Gill + Russ – Leeds Town Hall Wedding

What a weekend to get married! The first Summer heat wave of the year and I had the privilege of photographing Gill and Russ’s intimate wedding at Leeds Town Hall.

Gill arrives with the little one in tow.

I love these shots of Russ waiting patiently for his new bride and then seeing her happiness as she walks down the aisle.

Husband and wife…

An absolutely glorious day! I love the intimate confetti shower. I think this is the most effective confetti shower I’ve ever seen… future brides take note of the technique!

I then took Gill and Russ to Park Square to take advantage of the great backdrops and beautiful weather. I’m particularly fond of these – they look very much in love:)
Thanks for letting me a part of your wedding Gill and Russ – it was a privilege.

Hannah + Rob – Wood Hall, Wetherby Wedding

Last week was the wedding bash of Hannah and Rob at Wood Hall in Wetherby. I have to admit, I was nervous about the sheet of rain that was forecast to be storming its way up from the the South West due to hit our couple’s fine day around about the time of the ceremony. I prayed to the rain gods and asked them to keep it down South, just long enough for me to photograph Hannah and Rob do their thing!

I started my day in the (slightly crowded) bridal suite…

Sneaking a peek of the bride…

I loved the parting kiss from mum (who looked just as gorgeous as Hannah!) before heading downstairs to get married…

All that praying to the rain gods must have paid off… what a beautiful scene. With that, a raise of the glass to the newlyweds!

Wood Hall in Wetherby isn’t short of good backdrops for some stunning photography. The building itself oozes grandure and the gardens make for beautiful green country wedding photos.

I like to work the more relaxed group shot style after I’ve got the formal ones out of the way. This is where everyone has a laugh and things aren’t as rigid. I like to think of the formal shots being for your mum and the relaxed shots being for the younger generations.

And finally, I loved Hannah and Rob’s nod to tradition with the ‘Just Married’ car with tinkling can’s in tow, brought bang up to date with the Boxster.

“Hi James! A massive thank you for making our day special, it couldn’t have gone better. I will be recommending you to all my friends. Cant wait to see the finished product.” – Hannah & Rob

Ruth + Simon – The Stroom, Pudsey Wedding [Part 2]

Welcome to Part 2! If you missed Part 1, go back and refresh yourself.

Announcing Mr and Mrs Leckenby!

And on with the speeches…

As Ruth and Simon worked the room after the speeches, me and Lianne like to ninja around catching people at their most relaxed. That way, we get no forced smiles or fakery, just people having a good time.

Time for cake! This one had pretty blue butterflies twirling up the side (edible ones, not real ones). I always try and get something a little bit different with the cake cutting, ’cause otherwise it can be a bit of a dull shot and I don’t like how posed it looks when all the rest of my photos from the day are so un-posed (if you know what I mean!?) With this one, I waited for Ruth and Simon to look away at everyone elses cameras and I got them just blending into the background with that amazing cake in full view. It gives something a bit new to an old and tired traditional shot.

Onto the night’s events… (where some kids steered their elders into some sort of deathmatch). And it wasn’t long before everyone hit the dancefloor…

The first dance (including an impressive dip!)

All day long, we couldn’t escape the smiling face of Simon who clearly couldn’t be happier, and Ruth was constantly beaming with happiness. You know when two people are just right for each other and these two couldn’t be more right. Congratulations to you both.

“Hi James. Both simon and I wanted to say a very big thankyou for Saturday. We had a really good day and you were very un-intrusive and we can’t wait to see the photos!” – Ruth & Simon

Ruth + Simon – The Stroom, Pudsey Wedding [Part 1]

Yay! Ruth + Simon tied the knot on Saturday! It means a lot to me to be invited into someone’s special day and treated like they’ve known me for years, but at Ruth and Simon’s wedding, we really had known a number of these people for years!

Like some odd reunion, it turned out that the room was full of alumni of mine and Lianne’s high school. There was also Lianne’s primary school teacher and the deputy editor for The Leeds Guide which I’m also staff photographer for. So throughout the day, we were reminiscing with people about old teachers and high school memories… Small world, eh?!

Straight into the ceremony…

Then Ruth, Simon and I led a procession across the road to Pudsey Park, me with step ladders under one arm, camera bag over the shoulder, camera in one hand and changing lenses with the other whilst still shooting and walking backwards down the street – I surprised even myself! It was all for this really nice moment when everyone huddled together just as the sun came out and murmured a choral mixture of ‘cheeses’ and ‘suasages’.

Surely everyone knows stones are the traditional 90th wedding anniversary present!? I guess no one told this young chap.

Simon on train straightening duty.

It’s not often I include a blurry, but I liked how the daisy covered park looked like tiny versions of Ruth’s bouquet:)

Part 2 coming tomorrow… let your broadband rest a little….

Our new sample wedding albums…

We just got our super-special sample albums delivered today and we’re so excited to be offering these as our definitive choice in quality albums.

This is our middle-range album we’re offering out of three tiers and comes with a fully-designed clamshell box to protect your new family heirloom for generations to come. The album itself is covered in camel coloured faux-leather and beautifully embossed in silver with the bride and grooms name with a textural quality that will leave you stroking it just for fun.

A ribbon easily lifts the album from it’s protective foam-backed case and as you open up the album you feel the heavy weight of the paper as you start to relive your special day through our wedding photography. It’s a very satisfying feeling turning the thick pages, smiling with every new photo and something you’ll want to get out to show everyone who comes round. In fact, thats why we’ve gone with this album design, it’s designed to be on the coffee table right next to the magazines. The album itself is protected so doesn’t need to be all wrapped up and stored safely on top of the bookshelf. You can share it with people, safely. Being so well protected and well made, it should easily be just as presentable for generations to come.

There are a number of options available for our new albums to make them right for you. We love being able to give all our wedding couples a DVD of all their images, but the album just has that lasting quality that a DVD doesn’t and contrary to popular belief, these are actually a joy for us to produce…the end result makes it all worth it! Albums can be added to your package at any time or ordered 6 months, a year or 5 years down the line…. whenever suits you. Contact us using the form above for more details.
