Andy & Zoe got married at Treasurer’s House in the centre of York, a stunning building at the foot of the resplendent York Minster. We’ve seen this building umpteen times on our many trips to York but we’ve never seen anyone get married here, we didn’t even know it was possible! What we had heard though, was the many ghost stories about Treasurer’s House. It’s said that an army of Roman men and horses walk through the basement only visible from the knees up. When they dug up the floor of the basement, sure enough there was a Roman road just a foot below. Spooky!
Andy and Zoe didn’t exactly have a ‘theme’ for their wedding except a touch of Alice in Wonderland. But being York, a notoriously haunted city, when the reception finished at Treasurer’s House, local ghost-story teller Mad Alice (see what they did there!?) led the bride and groom and all their guests on a spooky story-laden walk to their evening reception venue. It was so great!
We had so much fun on Andy and Zoe’s wedding, not to mention the fact that it was in such a beautiful city-centre spot but that they were so easy to work with and their wedding portraits around York Minster were so much fun. And I’m sure Andy will be the first to advocate checking your suit before the big day to make sure there aren’t any security tags still left on it!
