As wedding ‘themes’ go, we’d have to say Lynsey & Gavin’s wedding theme was… booze!? Not in a bad way though! Their wedding at The Arches Dean Clough in Halifax was styled with flowers in all their favourite empty gin bottles, and they let the urban industrial chic styling of the building speak for itself. This was our first wedding at The Arches Dean Clough and we already love it! Its brickwork, vaulted ceilings, oodles of festoon lights (absolutely huge fans of these!) and just so much space to make it your own.
We began the day with the guys in Leeds who, in between Mario Kart and drinking, managed to get ready! Lynsey was in Halifax with her bridesmaids and flower girls before taking a VW Beetle to the ceremony at The Arches. This has to be one of our favourite ceremonies for the tears alone. Gav’s best man who admitted to not even crying at his own wedding blubbed the whole way through to his best mate getting married. Not only that, so did Gav’s dad, and we love the moral support they gave each other as they watched. To be fair though, I think there was barely a dry eye in the house!
Drinks and canapes in the bar area with magic entertainment saw us through to the speeches and meal. We love the informality of having a designate person on each person to play ‘dad’, donning a chefs hat and carving up the meal to serve everyone else. We nipped out with Lynsey and Gavin for a few portraits of the two of them in the industrial rabbit warren of Dean Clough. We were spoilt for choice with amazing urban backdrops and these two just laughed and giggled the whole way through. As the night drew in, we joined them on the dance floor for the first dance under those gorgeous festoon lights before everyone else piled on. What an awesome day… thanks for having us Lynsey & Gavin!
