Our last wedding of 2017 saw us at Niamh & Julia’s same sex wedding at The Priest House, Barden in the Bolton Abbey estate. We were blessed with the first wintery, snowy day of the year too with just some light flurries throughout the day to add a bit of wintery romance. Niamh & Julia both looked so good in white in the snow. The Priests House, just a little way past Bolton Abbey has a lovely chapel suitable for civil ceremonies and sits in the shadow of the ruins of Barden Tower.
With the risk of it already being dark by the time the ceremony was over, (we always like to do a bit of sunset maths to make sure we’ve got the light that we want and need!) we opted to do Niamh and Julia’s portraits just before the ceremony. The snow was falling gently and it couldn’t have been any more perfect, except for it maybe being a tad warmer! It was a great use of time as the guests filed in to their seats and organised themselves, we made the best of the remaining daylight. It meant the party could flow straight into the drinks reception afterwards too, which is always a plus!
Niamh & Julia were walked down the aisle with their daughters, bridesmaids and page boys, Julia by her dad. After a touching ceremony, the day progressed into night and was a very relaxed, fun affair. Rather than have a first dance, Niamh & Julia went for a family group dance, which was an absolute joy to photograph. They were shortly followed by the rest of their family and friends and the dancefloor was packed all the way through the evening! So much so, we found it hard to tear ourselves away.
To one and all we wish you Merry Christmas however you’re celebrating it and we’ll see you for our final roundup of 2017 before kicking off the 2018 wedding season again in January.
